A Tradition You Love...Or Could Live Without?

ahhhh, the Christmas pin...
when you were little, it seemed like your grandma had a
different one for every day of december...which probably
elicited from you a valley-girl worthy sigh with an eye-roll
added for good measure!

but now we are older...
i said older...not old!
how do we feel about "Christmas" pins these days?
cool? kitschy?
or still something that only grandma would wear? ;}
a tradition you LOVE?
or could live without?

  1. Christmas pins (at my age) are as much a part of Christmas as the Angel or Star on top of the tree... I'm now the Grandma! LOL Plus I not only have my own tasteful collection of snowflake and Christmas tree pins, I also have my mom's Christmas sleigh pins and my Grandma's Christmas pins. I think I have enough I could even wear them on my jammies! And because the evoke such great memories of Christmases past I love them all. There I said it, it's out in the open... I'm a Chrismas Pinaholic...

  2. Oh, I remember this well, she always wore it on the lapel of her winter coat. (sometimes with a Christmas hanky) A few years ago, I re-initiated the tradition; a little kitschy but so much fun!

  3. I love the tradition of a Christmas pin. They are on all my jackets and coats.........very chic on denim!!! I always gave my mom a new pin on her December birthday, now that she is gone, they came back to me and I remember her with them......

  4. I think they are beautiful and I love seeing people wear them, although I don't have any myself. Maybe I need to start thinking about adding that tradition into my life! :)

  6. I love the vintage Christmas pins so much and wish I hadn't tossed or given away the ones I've found. The ones in your top photo are so pretty! Fond memories of my Grammie, Aunt Henri and Aunt Marguerite and the many brooches they wore. I still have some but not the Christmas ones. Thanks for the memories.

  7. Mums still loves pins...and I have started to wear them again. I'm not old, but I'm not young by any means. I think this is a great "new" style. Perhaps we can persuade the younger folks to join in. (grin) Merry Christmas!

  12. I have so many pins that belonged to my great grandmother, my grandmother, and my mom, who was a pin-aholic...not just Christmas pins but for every occasion! I just wore a coat last night with a big sparkly snowflake pin on the lapel, my friend (a pin lover) gave it to me years ago for my December birthday and everyone always comments on how beautiful it is. I have worn pins off an on since my early 20s, but now wearing one that belonged to someone I love and who is no longer here is so meaningful, especially this time of year! I hope you wear the beautiful ones pictured above!
