Bye Bye, Baby Doe...

this is oreo...

but she went by many names...
rissy doe
baby doe
doe bird
frissy doe
doe bi wan kanobi
or if she was in big trouble...
oreo nicole antoinette!
{what is our problem with the pet nicknames!??}

but oreo was her first name from her first family
and even after she was adopted by bee...  BOY did she know that name!
and her whistle!
such a smart girl!

you were first introduced to her here...back in 2008...
poor, patient doe!

and then here...when she met my stray baby, dutch.
{the big moose who is luxuriating on my sweater right this minute!!
naughty! naughty! excuse me while i go smooch his extra big head!!! ;}

by 2009, she was our bloggy doggy...mostly because back then,
way back in the day when i didn't have my own computer...{i know!
who starts a blog and doesn't even have a computer??!
or a camera? sheesh ! ;} she HAD to be on my lap when i was
blogging away nearly every night at bee's house when i
wrote this:

Oreo is our bloggy doggy and spokesmodel...
(just because she's the only one who will obey
the "sit" command.) She was adopted by Bee...
she was supposed to be a chihuahua... ;} She love
to chase ice bits across the floor and sit on her
dad's shoulder like a parrot!

she was such a silly girl!
she would stretch out her legs and pull herself across the carpet
in a little ritual we called "mermaid" legs!
and she'd do this silly little hop as she ran along, that we
called a "dipsy doodle"!
and she loved to sit in the sunshine!
and in her dad's car as he washed it!
but she HATED to go for a walk or a drive!
almost as much as she hated her sisters, brini and coco.

as you may have guessed, we lost baby doe this week.
they found out she had a murmur and a week later she was gone
after one sad and scary night for bee & her husband...
it's going to be a while before they get over that.

actually, we have lost all these girls in the last 2 years...
lola just last month.
it's so hard to lose them before the holidays!
we know...we give these little orphans great homes...
literally better lives than humans the world over have!
but it's just so hard to let them go!
we spent friday night trying not to look at each other
so we wouldn't start to cry didn't work.

we will miss you doe bird!
you could be mean and sassy and very growly...
but you had the softest ears! and those dalmation hands!
and the liiiiiiitle white tip on your tail...
rest in peace with lola{THE sweetest dog ever born!}...
Christmas morning will be lonely without you guys.

  1. Oh! I am so very sorry. What a beautiful tribute to your beloved friend.
They always change us and before we know it, part of them lives inside us forever.
Please find peace in the memories of your beloved babies.

  2. Aw! What a sweet tribute to a wonderful puppy!
(All dogs stay puppies in my mind!)
May the Lord comfort your hearts.

  3. Aww, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog(s). They make our lives so much better and then it's so difficult when they leave us.

  4. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. This happened to us with our beloved Bootz. One moment she seemed fine, and the next she was gone. ((hugs)) Blessings, love and comfort to you, dear girl. ((HUGS))

  5. We lost our kitty of 12 years last week. It is so hard. They mean so much to us. (((((HUGS))))

  6. This makes me so sad m. I am so sorry. I can only imagine the hole in things right now with this sweet face gone. Give Bee a hug from me. It is so hard to go through this once let alone twice in just a few months.
One thing is for sure---she had the best home ever!
    much love from me...

  7. It is always so hard to loose a furbaby! Our last dog, before Hunter, developed a heart murmur and congestive heart failure. The vet told me what to listen for and watch for and two days later he started coughing. We lost him a day later. Even when we know the time is drawing near, it is still heartbreaking! May memories bring you all comfort.
    Hugs, Noreen

  8. So sorry about your darling dog child! I know how hard it is to lose a pet child! From the photos looks like a wonderful life had by all! Hugs from me! Linda

  9. Oh my heart goes out to you. It is so hard to lose a pet, especially because they are such a part of the family. She looks like such a stinker, but so loveable. Such a sweet, sweet face. You my friend have brought tears to my eyes. It is such a hurt. Please ready rainbow bridge. It will bring you comfort and be thankful, ever so thankful that she loved all of you and was such a beautiful part of your lives.

  10. Oh! :( but what a wonderful life she and all your dogs had with you and your lovely family!

  11. Sending your a hug and deepest sympathy! There isn't anything better than the unconditional love our fur-babies give to us!

  12. I'm sorry for the loss of your sweet Doe baby. We get so attached to our pets and they give us so much back don't they. It would be very difficult to lose two dogs so close together. Hugs, Pamela

  13. Sending you a warm cyber hug... sniff

  14. I MISS MY RISSEL SO MUCH! I made the mistake of reading this post before work :'(
Thanks for imprinting her mermaid legs and other cute quirks forever on the interwebz.
    <3 <3 <3

  15. Lovely tribute to Doe. I am so sorry for your loss.

  16. So very sorry for your loss, it just never gets easier when we lose one of these amazing little creatures who worm their way into our hearts forever!

    xo Kat
