Pretty Light, Hogs & Intrigue...

Sometimes, when the light is juuuuuuust right a madness
comes over me...well, more than my usual madness. ;}





I start gathering and arranging bit and bobs just to see how
they will look "in the light".






Like ballerina feet...I knew they would look dainty and pretty!
{I'm not sure how the ballerina feels about this...
but I am the boss of her, so... ;}





And a tiny nest in a seashell because, well, that's where they belong!






But there is nothing better than silver in the sunlight! Ok, chocolate
is better...but it gets all melty so, we'll stick with the more photogenic
silver!





Now...I'd like opinions, please.
When I make my mosaics I always tend to enlarge them, Texas-size,
to show as much of the picture as possible. To hog all the space. More
is more and all that.



But my niece makes the mosaic for her website more like this...
just snippety slices that focus more on the object of interest.
Which do you prefer?
Which is more intriguing?
Which beckons to you...draws you in and makes you
daydream?
Truly...this isn't a test!!
I'm not trying to psychologically profile you...
I'm just curious! Thx!!!

P Is For Pretty Pink Peony...And Pitiful!

We want what we can't have...
this is probably the reason that I adore peonies!





So. Cal is sun, silicon...diet Coke with a Cinnabon...not peonies!





Apparently they need 400 hours of freezing and, uh...
we don't really get that around here...you know, global
warming and all...




Anyway, we don't do well with "freezing"...it's 50 degrees right now...
and my teeth are all a-chatter...my cats are pathetically searching
out the tiniest patch of sunlight on the carpet...brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!




Maybe peonies are a reward for those of you who spend months
shoveling your front walk, scraping your windshield, wearing
wool and paying for heating oil?





Pretty darn good reward I say! You lucky ducks!

They even look pretty when they are dead & dried!
How is this possible??!!





This must be what heaven looks like!





So, I'll just sit here pitifully looking at the rolling green
hills against the blue sky and await my annual peony fix from
JUNE {...and all this time I thought Idaho was the spud state... ;}

What Hath I Wrought!!??

Step away from this post...nothing to read here!
Ok...you'd probably have to be in my head to correlate my
post title to the content...and I'm gonna go out on a limb
here and say...that's not where you wanna be! ;} Not that
I have a PhD in Wordology...but I just liked the title because
it's vaguely Biblical and at the same time, Shakespearean...
See! This is why you don't want to be in my gray/grey matter!
{Besides the fact that we live in a world where I cannot get a
definitive spelling of the color/colour grey/gray...seriously?!!}
Aside from whole the grey/gray thing...I hate my hair...
Clinique has stopped making the albino foundation that
has spackled my face for years...and I desperately need new
black shoes!




I know! Governments are falling...the earth is quaking...etc., etc. and
I am just all about ME! Can I blame it on being a native born So.
Cali-an? No? Hmmmmmm...give me a sec then...




I think that as ALL this scary big stuff is multiplying...I find myself
looking to the trivial minutia as a distraction...otherwise I'd want to
crawl under my bed with a box of Twinkies and just camp out for a
while...know what I mean???
Don't get me wrong...I know how it all ends...
where I will end up...of that I am certain.
It's just the getting there that has me a bit nervous.





So, I watch and wait and pray...
and create wall tchotchkes for my bedroom re-do...
I now I sound hideously shallow and, well, I probably am...
just being "real", as people like to say...
is it so very wrong to have a cute bed to pray next to? And to
now-I-lay-me-down-to-sleep in? Huh?
{This may be the reason I am not asked to speak at any churches?? ;}
Armageddon, end times, rapture, eternity, swatches & window
treatments?
Yah, I know...I'm such a big weenie!

Now this is my idea of "cup"cakes!







Well, upon further review...they might be a tad
on the crunchy side...painful even.






No frosting either...hmmmm...
pretty as they are I don't think that makes
up for the lack of shortening & sugar whipped
into a frothily fabulous topping!




Looks like I didn't think this through properly...
I'm such a nutter! {sorry...I have been immersed
in an English mystery series all weekend and I
have decided I want a Northumberland accent!}
Anyway, I guess teacups must remain teacups...
but I could always serve them up in the cupcake
tray and present these chintzy delights as the
"tempty" treats they truly are!!!

{and come on, who doesn't! Mine's dog-eared!! Don't judge! ;}
I have listed all of their lovely little names to aid you in your
Ebay hunting! ;}




Be warned though...collecting chintz usually leads to
collecting these...but that's another story for another
day... ;}

Pick A Peck Of Pinks...

I haven't quite finished editing the 600...or so...pictures I snapped
at last weekend's Valentine-y Tea...so, I just picked a peck of pinkies
for today's festivities.
As a photographer, candy is a favorite subject of mine...pictures of
candy are calorie-free...and yet I know I gain weight just LOOKING
at it!!!{and though I never even sample these little cutties...I could
have sworn I felt them adding a bit if "filler" to a dimple in my
nether regions! ;0 }




Ok....maybe the "filler" was due to these scrummy treats! And FYI,
Devonshire cream...not just for scones anymore! ;}
{I prefer the Teapot cookies to the hearts...it all boils down to math...
the teapots are two times as big as the hearts, ergo I eat one
teapot and not appear to be a grazing heifer! }



Would we all agree...it's time for this weary little sign to go to heaven!
How do I break this news to my sister...she seems quite attached to it!
Where is Dr. Phil when you need him!





How cute are theses napkins! Pardon the wrinkles...my sister Bee,
was ironing them while I folded...and I kept trying to fold them
into something "fun"...but in the end there wasn't really room on
table for Bishop's hats, Eiffel Towers or Geodesic domes...so we
had to go had to go "basic"...and I re-wrinkled them all for naught!
Won't they make CUTE pillows!!!!

Bee: "Nice iron! New?"
Kae: "Yes..."
Bee: [as she checks out iron] "These are expensive!"
Kae: [defensively] "So! I needed a new one! ...and it
was pink!"
Ahhhh, PINK...our "constant" in times of chaos, tumult and fear!}

Now there's a good name for a magazine!!!




Almost as good a Christmas!!!!
What is it about treats in an apothecary jars that makes them
look ten times more intriguing than if they were just in their
packaging!!!!!




The money shot! HA! Hardly...but I love the pink Adirondack!
I wouldn't actually care to sit in it...{very low
seats make very tall people feel like a pregnant
woman when they attempt to extricate themselves! ;}
It's one of my favorite subjects! Now... if it was only
made of candy....

I need some drugs and something salty...then I'll be good...
I think I need the "something salty" first though!

I'll stop whining...after all...it's February...and my sister Kae's
yard looks like this! {although it was only 56 today...brrrrrr!}

I blame the hormones! {I'm mean anyway, that's a lie! ;}
I'd like to be a tulip right now...
they just stand there...all bright and happy!
Skinny stems and all "full" on top!
Basking in the sunshine...and never a reason to put a
heating pad on their lower abdomen...
I just hate tulips!

So, Saturday was our annual Valentine's Tea...
Lots of food!
Lots of tea! {lots of trips to the "ladies"...or is that just me?!;}
Lots of sugar!
Lots of pictures!

This year, there was a professional photographer on hand...but I
just call her Muffin...

and, yep...she is 7 months preggers.
But, seriously...what would a pregnant
photographer want to take pictures of more...
bridezillas?
or food?
Dream job!
I rest my case!

Things To Hold All Your Other Things...

First things first...HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! May every treat you
partake of be magically calorie free!!! ;}




Now...down to business! So, I bought these canisters a VERY long
while ago...not because I needed them specifically...although I knew
they would be useful, in some way, in the future...{a very slippery
justification, huh?! ;} Come on! We all need "things" to hold all
of our accumulations of other "things"...right? Well, anyway...
they were only $4.99...almost free...sort of...




So, approximately 18 months after their purchase...I was inspired to
create this...but then I promptly gave it away...so, not only am I thrifty...
I'm charitable too...give me a sec to polish my halo, please! ;}

And then there were 3...




Well, my lazy old Muse finally gave herself a kick in the pants {does a Muse
wear pants?} and got to painting!




Bubble gum pink...Robin's Egg-ish...and Baby pink!
YUMMY colors..yet boring don't you think?
Seriously...I'm bored just typing the word "bored"...
They surely need a little something to add a bit of
zing-a-ling-a doo!!!




So, I though to myself...'self, why don't you embellish them with
the thing you will be storing within them?'




"Self", I said aloud...yet to myself..."that's a darn fine idea!"
Not only cute and fun, but also functional...let's face it...I'm very
happy if I remember to put on deodorant before I leave for work...
so any little clue I can give myself as to the actual vicinity of the
item that I am sure I have...but can't remember where I put...is a
blessing!




This actually started out with glitter in the little vials....
but again...BORING! So, I went with pink sugar! Since
ants preclude my actually decorating with candy and
Hostess products, as I would like...this will have to do! ;}




Silly, fun, whimsy...if we could only put it in our water supply...
what a world it would be!




Never fear...I have enough to go around!!! ;}
