I Know Why The Caged Bird Lamp Sings...

So, I bought this little birdie lamp...




...because I really needed another lamp...uh, I mean...because it was for
charity...uh, I mean...it was really cheap...and...and...
{now would be a good time to stand back because I am due to be struck
by lightening at any minute!}


But it was cheep...I mean cheap...ish...$8.99...which is still $8.99 too
much when you need another lamp like you need another cellulite dimple
{that one really hit home, didn't it??! ;}



So, I need an opinion or two here...I will be re-covering the gag-me shade
with a vintage napkin...this one looks like a keeper {not a trace of the
orange-dipping-sauce-y-finger stains from June...one day I will write
an ode to Oxy Clean!}




...but should I paint the whole thing white too? I am not hating it this
color {is "that damning with faint praise"?} but I do always, obsessively,
scarily, frighteningly tend towards the "whitening" of all things that
cannot out run me!

Revelation time: I HATE the way lamp shades are always mummified in
plastic wrap! I have spent countless minutes painstakingly unwinding
the plastic from this shade and that...all the while cursing the fiendish
"wrapper" in Chinese! {for obvious reasons...}
So, how do you say "DUH!" in Chinese???? I finally thought to CUT the
plastic thereby allowing it to fall lickety split to the floor and alleviating
my usual hissy fit...not the sharpest knife in the drawer, eh? Yeesh!

The Prude Chronicles...{Or Is It Just Me?}

Traditional? Is it just me or are there some...a lot...a few too many... ads
that seem a bit out of place in TH? I don't think of myself as a major prude
but, sheesh when I buy a magazine like TH I am not really looking for a
Cape Code style re-do...with a dash of sex on the side! There's a time and
a place for everything...and when I flip through TH I am looking for pillows
not pecs, ya know?!




It has always been my policy to "just say no" to men who are prettier
than me! And...HELLO!...hike up that towel there, Skippy!

This looks like a scene from a crime show!
I can just hear some one saying "Bag it, Sgt. Malone! It's evidence!"






Really? His "six pack" is all wonky...it's more like a 3.5 pack from someone
wearing Mr. Brady's castoff shirt!




Carter CAN stay...he's cute AND he has a reason for being here!
{did I ever tell you that 2 different people I work with were on "Carter Can"?
No? Well, they were...oh how we laughed!} And he's going to be in Chicago
Oct 2nd, so, if you see him, tell him I said "Hi!"....k.




WHAT is up with this? I don't know about you, but the kind of action my
counter tops see is: glue, glitter, cat food, Simple Green...evening wear
has never figured into the equation! {and Justin Beiber called, he wants
his bangs back}





And when we delve deeper...what have we here? Did he pick these two up at
"Bulimics Anonymous" and lure them to his den of iniquity with promises
of desserts and baked goods? {actually, they look a tad miffy, they must
have found out that the cakes have that vile pseudo-whipped cream frosting
instead of butter creme!}




Poor thing! Gazing adoringly at her reflection in the flooring
without ever realizing that someone has absconded with 3/4
of her thigh!
Somebody get this girl a a Double Double Animal Style, STAT!!

File Under White...

So, I have been realizing that I have waaaaaaaay to many pictures within
this little white Mac and I am in serious need of an external hard drive!
Ok...I didn't know that I was in need of one until my niece was telling me
how cool they are and spinning dire tales of woe...what if...what if...what if...
"YIKES!" I gasped, clutching my pearls!
So, before I get one, I am "weeding"{...to say that I have a lot of junk in here
is an understatement!} and I found that I actually have a file named "White"!
{I am nothing, if not pithy!} so, I thought I'd share with you all, the deep and
meaningful shots that I, at one time, felt were so, so...so...uh, white, that they
needed their own file!

The cup above is cool...it just is! I could take pictures of it all day long...and I
probably have! {what can I say, my days are full!}

Every year I buy this dreamy white divinity from PRIESTERS PECANS
in Alabama...and me, I don't know from Alabama...
but this I know...when I said "dreamy" I meant it! I dream of this divinity
ALL YEAR!
Which is why I actually took pictures of it...you know, "take a picture, it
lasts longer"! ;}
(Although Priester's is known for their pecans and pecanalicious delights,
I have to confess that I get the divinity WITHOUT pecans...AK!...I have a
bit of a "Rainman" thing and I don't like certain textures...so, if you want
to torture me...water boarding will be useless...but feed me a strawberry...
with all those creepy little seeds...and I will sing like a canary, sister!)

Hello handsome! He's mostly white...and look at that little nose!
I always tell him that he's so cute I could eat him up! And he always
flinches a bit because he's know that with a little Ranch dressing...
there's no telling what mama might do!





Some of my earliest glittered shells...they have Smithsonian written
all over them, don't they! ;}

M's Mini-Met...

I am one who is more inclined to look at a smallish something that I
already have...and give it all little spruce instead of a major overhaul...
a "mini-met", if you will.

And the shell mirror above has been bugging me for quite a while...
{my cat has been enjoying it as a bed...I don't know why these things
happen, they just do! ;}




...although quite divinely encrusted...still a tad boring and I need another
mirror on the wall like I need to wear a larger pant size...NOT!






So, today...it got feet!





And became a shellicious vanity tray!






Just popped a bit of glue on...and as quick as you can say "Bob's your uncle!"
it was ready to go!

{maybe next week I will cover one of my cats with shells and have a "major met"
for you!}
