Purple Haze...

Meet one of the most expensive cup and saucers I have ever purchased...

Blame it on the martinis...
Blame it on the rain...
Crop circles...
Tectonic slippage...
Blame it on EBAY!

Ever get all caught up in the "hunt" on Ebay???
You're sitting there...alone...talking to the monitor...
"Ohhhhhh-hooo-hooo-hoooo, no you don't, missy! It's mine!"
"Outbid? What! I DON'T THINK SO-HOO-HOO-HOO!"
'Five more dollars, just five more dollars' you tell yourself...
Then that five becomes ten, twenty...gulp!

I used to love that thrill of victory!

But how gorgeous is she!!! "Summer Glory" is the pattern.
The purrrrrrrrrittiest shade of pink you have ever set eyes on!

What makes her so "spendy" is the fact that she is made by Shelley
and is in the Oleander shape...
rare and in demand...
at least it was back during the days of the Great Chintz Rush!

Oh, how those words "rare and in demand" used to whip me into a frenzy!
Like the yip-yip-yipping of a pack of coyotes...that was me! {if you live
in a coyote-less area, you have no idea what I am talking about...and
possibly, even if you do, you still have no idea what I am talking about...and
you're wondering how in world this chick can equate the purchasing of
fine bone china with the feeding habits of wild animals? I ask myself these
same questions...and then I just ignore me! }

  7. You made me laugh at 4:00 a.m.! Yes, I do know what a pack of coyotes sound like and this is the time of the day they like to raid our place for their lamb & duck meals. They are an "eat and run" bunch though.

Beautiful cup & saucer, I can see why you just had to have it. If nothing else, you gave many of us a chuckle while we admired it..that is worth the price, ey?

  11. Your posts always make me smile so... yes, we have coyotes here as well, and I totally understand what you are saying! Your teacup is stunning, and I would have been in a bidding frenzy as well...I have never seen anything sooo beautiful!... I used to get so crazy, one time when they used to show who was bidding on Ebay, someone named "Princess Rochelle" kept outbidding me on a vintage McCoy planter... I got so riled up in it I ended up paying a mint for it, by that time it was more of a case of not wanting her to get it (I didn't like her name, "Princess", hah!)than actually liking it... but, big bucks later it was mine!... xoxo Julie Marie (I still don't like it that much, but hey, I GOT it!)...
