Ignorance Is Bliss...

There are some things you just don't need to know...
as they say, "ignorance is bliss"...and sometimes
this ignorance can be a good thing!
Until a few years ago, I had no idea that I loved
Ranch dressing, never gave it a second glance...
then I tried it...mamma mia! Now I will have it
on pizza, taquitos, a slow-moving feline, if I'm
PMS-ing! (TMI? ;) Nowadays, you will generally
find me...a girthier gal and with a little trickle of
Ranch on my chin! See, what did I tell you, there
are just some things you are better off not knowing!




Which brings me to tassels...(didn't see that one
coming, did you?!) For months I have been seeing
these super cute tassels that everyone is making,
selling, touting, and I thought I should try my
hand (Ranch dribbles and all) at making one...
and today, my Muse finally beckoned to me, I
believe her exact words were, "Hey, fatty, get off
the sofa and come over here!" Yah, she is blunt,
but she gets things done! She drew my thoughts
to the delightful, diminutive, darling, demitasse
cup, which, for all it's charms is...completely useless!
What can you drink out of a cup so small? A dose
of NyQuil?



Hmmmm....a plethora or ribbons....






A demitasse cup and ribbons...
A-ha! I had it!


A few minutes later and few hot glue burns
from catching the glue gun on the wrong end
as Mr. Kitty bit the cord and pulled it off the
counter...I had those ribbons wrangled into
some semblance of order...


and VOILA!



My very first demi-tassel (sorry, I just couldn't
help myself!)





I did go a bit froo-froo and girlie, since my niece
is expecting, I have baby girl froo-froo on the
brain!




And it was so darn fun to make that I feel a
whole new line of "demi-tassels" coming on!
See, what Muse started! I will now be up to
my Ranch smeared chin in ribbons and
tiny useless cups until I get this out of my
system! Yeesh! Ah well, it could be worse,
I could have discovered a fondness for making
martinis!

She Liked The Pink Ones...

And who among us has not uttered those very
words??! But that is actually the name of the
charming painting above by fab artist, Janet
Hill of Janet Hill Studio .
That dress & gloves just scream Sandra Dee to me!





And doesn't Her Best Pink Suit bring Audrey to
mind????

Yes, Janet does have a predilection for the
preponderance of perfect pink that we readily
prefer...




I'd snap up those chairs in a New York minute...
and eat that pink cake on my way out the door!





HELLO!!! A pink claw foot tub!!! How cute is that!!


But Janet does actually stray from the world of pink,
into red-walled rooms, blue & white china hutches,
Scandinavian styled rooms, Victorian, Regency, Cottage
and beyond!
Every room she paints you wish you could step right into!
Like the chalk drawings in Mary Poppins...




This picture, called The Conservatory, made me think that
Janet had possibly visited the Bennet's at Longbourn a time
or two...could she be a kindred spirit?




Then I came across Austen Dresses, and I knew she was!
("came across", who am I trying to kid! Once I started,
I didn't stop until I had looked at every painting she has
posted on her blog!)




I love her titles too! She Always Traveled With Her Instamatic...
look at those hat boxes!



Rosewater...Oh, to have this bathroom and to
fit into a camisole that small!!! ;)

Life Is The Bubbles...Under The Sea...




As I was uploading these pictures, I began to
wonder just exactly when I had shot right passed
"Hooked On" and went straight to "Obsessed With"??!!






Yikes do I have a lot of pictures of sea shells &
starfish!





Looks like the only thing I like better than dressing up
shells with a nice layer of glitter...is taking lots and
lots of pictures of them!






So, I will just get out of the way and let you peruse
while you decide if you can still be my friend...or if
I need some serious couch time! ;)

"Present" Under Glass....

I have just suffered a finger-laming
pet accident, so I have to make this
a short post since I cannot feel my
pinkie...(he didn't mean too...I
should have nipped his claws sooner...
am I an enabler, or what?)
Anyway...I know you have all seen this
picture of my wicker trunk that I have
topped with glass to keep the dust off
and how I placed vintage postcards
underneath the glass for a bit of
whimsy...I am all about the whimsy! :)








Well, that idea was not originally mine.
Bee & Kae have been doing this for years...
(and it's the most fun when they do it for
their kids' birthdays and make a collage
of THE most embarrassing childhood
pictures...the naked baby pics...the red
short-shorts...the Power Ranger pj's...
ohhhhhhhhhhh, how we laugh ourselves
silly!)








But I digress, Kae has this glass covered
coffee table that she jazzes up for every
holiday.. and this is her Valentine's
rendition.








No, I have no idea how she got all those
doilies to stay in place...I have to ask...
