Musty, Dusty Magic...

I adore old books!

The musty old smell...

the time-worn spines...

the uneven pages...

the elaborate covers...

I especially love it when the have an inscription
inside!

And (like cats) I have way too may of them!
But these books will never be thinned out or
end up at Goodwill...they are family...I'm hooked!

hehehehe I am so glad we bought a home with space for a library! I spend hours at thrift stores rummaging and have actually aquired a few good old ones via Paperback Swap.

  5. I, too, love books...old ones, new ones, I just love them all. And there are times that a picture on the cover draws me to them - so much for the old saying, "You should never judge a book by it's cover!"

And I'll always manage to make room for just a couple more!

  6. Hey, I meant to tell you that your hands were never in the way. I thought you did a great job on the vid- even if you do have the attention span of a gnat. ☺

  12. Well your tutorial wasn't enough to scare me off - you have to be way worse than that before I'd abandon your wonderful blog.
Ohhh I love old books too- the musty smell not so much - so I usually zap them in the micro to kill the mold.
I have allergies to certain molds and mildews you see I just don't like to torture books.
    Hugs,

  13. I love books too. I have two bookcases in our living room. Some of the shelves are for family pictures, but I have books in them too. If we ever win the lottery I would love to have a library room.

  15. Old books are so wonderful. I spent last weekend antiquing and all that kept catching my eye were old books, maps and teacups!

  16. Since you care about old books (as do I) are you aware about the draconian new CPSIA laws that make it illegal (yes, illegal!) to sell any children's books that are 1985 or older without being tested for lead (and destroyed in the process!)?? Please go to: http://learningresourcesinc.blogspot.com/ and read Rick Woldenberg on books. This is a urgent situation facing those of us who love books. Spread the word--our old books are definitely at stake!

  21. I love most books, but you are right there is something special about lovely old books. I often think we should start giving out cards at my house so people can come and check out the books.
