Why I Don't Sew, By M

There is a very simple answer to that...
when it comes to sewing I'd make a better
taxidermist than a seamstress!

Now, I know that on our blogs we like to
show the cute things we have made,
particularly where our talents truly lie...
Well, I thought I'd mix it up a bit and go
against the grain show you what I can't do...
SEW!
Bee & Kae are great seamstresses...our grand
mother & great grandmother were phenomenal...
I, on the other hand, am a mutant...that gene
passed me right by...and how!

So, I now humble myself in the sight of the
blogosphere and give you a few laughs to relieve
the holiday stress that is already building...
(you'll need a tissue...tears will ensue!)

No, a 3 year old did not make these...

Wide ankles, anyone???
And, really, how hard can it be to make
the corners rounded...mine all have bunions
and other various and sundry foot ailments!

This was when the bobbin thingie kept unraveling
and thread just came spitting out of every hole on
the machine...my solution would have been to
throw it out the window...alas, it was Bee's machine!

There you go...and this is why I am heavily into the
glue gun and the glitter...and not the Gingers!!!!! :)

  4. Oh, you are being to hard on yourself! I think they look more than fine...they are pretty! The colors are pretty, the lace and sparkle are pretty!

You are not alone on feeling like the sewing genetic fairy skipped over you! I have a KICK BUTT sewing machine (so I'm told), that I have never even cracked open! I'm told it will practically make dinner for me. I don't even know what kind it is! Or where it is!

I'm with you, glue is my friend!

  8. Well, you're nuts, girl! Those stockings are DARLING! If you would like to see ridiculous,
somethime I'll post something I sewed - then you'll have somethng to laugh at! My lack of skills as a seamstress is a big disappointment because in my mind I can just SEE all kinds of wonderful things to make! I can see it, I just can't DO it! Hmmm...maybe I should be a designer, not a seamstress! Display those darling stockings with pride!!
    Merry Christmas...Kathy

  15. Wide ankles make it easier to get the big things in them.

    They turned out really well.

  17. M I DON'T SEE ONE THING WRONG WITH THESE...THEY LOOK GREAT! LOVE THE FABRIC, LOVE HOW THEY LOOK AND I LOVE YOUR HEADER WITH THE PINK CHRISTMAS BALLS.....WOWEE KAZOWEE! Everything looks marvelicious to me! I sew alot...and I have sewn (sewed?) through my fingers twice! Had to go to the doctor only once though....to have the needle removed that broke off! Youch! Sewing is fun and a little painful at best...but I'd say those stocking are beautiful! And worth it!
    Blessings,
    Debbie

  18. M, I think they are nicely done. Really. You have an eye for a very nice look and should stay with sewing until you are more comfortable with it. I believe you could make wonderful things.
